For the last week or so, the Catawba Country Sheriff Dept has been simulcasting their dispatch on the Hickory EDACS system. They are using the HPD Channel 12 Training talk group. Anybody know if they are just testing or is this permanent?
As a followup, they are also dispatching Hickory Fire Dept on Hickory EDACS HPD Channel 11 Training. For the last week or so, the Catawba Country Sheriff Dept has been simulcasting their dispatch on the Hickory EDACS system. Are they simulcasting the VHF channel or have they switched completely? If so, is it just the dispatcher audio or both sides? As a followup, they are also dispatching Hickory Fire Dept on Hickory EDACS HPD Channel 11 Training.
There had been talk of new interop capability and this must be it.They are still using their normal VHF channels as well. Both the dispatchers & the units are heard on EDACS & VHF.
Too bad it's not HPD dispatch on VHF for those of us who are old timers and prefer VHFSlick that you can monitor HFD and HPD together on same band now.
I think it would really hurt to walk away from the VHF system they have, it just kicks butt like a cross-eyed Rockette :lol:There are rumblings of Catawba County going to VIPER in the future.
