Cautionary notes on the Raddy RF-919 wideband portable

You might have seen this portable advertised on Amazon and I've seen ads popping up for this radio, so these are some reviews and comments by my old friend Dan Robinson and at the Radio Jay Allen website. Bottom line seems to be that it has potential but there are some bugs - like muting when tuning - that need to be ironed out.

You will notice that newer units include a rotatable MW / LW loop. Dan has told me it's not worth it to get it. I would bet that the internal MW and external loop are interacting. Onward...

A friend bit on one of the RF919s, and except for the soft muting, it's a pretty decent radio. Good audio, MUCH better than a PL-660. If they got rid of the muting, I would put it near the top. I don't mind the looks at all, as long as it's the grey one.
