Cb antenna power question

I bought a RS antenna- Radio Shack® No-Ground CB Antenna Model: 21-977 | Catalog #: 21-977

I was wondering if these antennas can usually hold more than the 3 watts that CBs offer. I have a ham radio that will go to 25 watts and with some tuning on this antenna I wondered if the CB Antenna will handle the 25 watts on 10 meters. I could use it for both maybe. I don't see anything in the antenna listing that it will handle more. Thanks Ron

In the past I've seen RS antennas handle standard cb 5 watt and 12 watt on usb or lsb, I,ve also seen them operated with rf amplifiers 50 watt output (Truckers usually), Buy the way I would not reccomend it, It's far from legal.
Getting back to the question I'm not actually sure what RS rates them at power wise, but there is no reason that I know of why you could not trim the antenna to operate on 10 meter, most 10 meter ham radios that I've worked on were 25 Wattt output, the only difference is CB is AM and ham is FM. If you want, look up "Comtelco" mobile antennas there you'll find a good selection of reasonably priced commercial radio antennas, I've used these for commercial and public safety mobile radio installations with No Problems and you can also get replacement parts if something goes defective.

The quick-n-dirty answer is that it will probably handle 25 watts just fine. That 'power rating' isn't very definite at all and can vary quite a bit according to how well that antenna is tuned. The so called 'power' ratings of CB antennas are more a product of an imaginative advertising department than fact.
