If any one is looking for a good vertical base antenna I recommend the Imax 2000.I previously owned a antron 99 and switched to a Imax and noticed a 3 s unit increase on transmit and recieve.The Imax is a 24 ft vertical with no grounplane and is a 5/8 wave design.I recently read a artical that a person experienced in antenna design said it is actually a .64 wave antenna.All I know is that it works awsome on my 40 ft tower.For the purchase price you can't beat it!

5/8 = .63 :roll:

The A99 is a 1/2 wavelength unity gain design (has a gain of 0 dBd) if I remember correctly, and a properly designed 5/8 wave antenna should have at least 1.5 dBd gain, so the increased signal level would be expected.

The Antenna Specialist's Sigma 5/8 is also a 5/8 no grndpln antenna.
