cb radios is all confusing for newcomer like me

Maybe you could help me, as this radio stuff is really confusing for a newcomer like myself
I'm looking for a marine cb radio system whereby I can listen in on live fishing reports and location? .. I've searched gadgetcity.com.au, prestige, uniden all. bit confusing like looking at this page UHF CB Radios , FREE SHIPPING AUSTRALIA WIDE how would I know which one to choose

Since you are in or appear to be interested in Australia, you might want to have moderators move this to the Australian thread. I don't know anything about marine radios in Australia. In North America there is some Marine activity on the High Frequencies [0-30 MHz], more on VHF around 156 MHz I believe in Australia that their UHF CB is around 474 MHz This means one requires 2 radios or a dual band radio. In North America, Marine radios [156-162 approximately], are to be used around the ocean side areas, not on the interior dry land. In fact, in Alberta, marine frequencies are allotted to businesses and some fire departments. So see if you can search for regulations in Australia you might find frequencies and where these can be used. Of course just monitoring is no problem, therefore any analog scanner will do this.

In the US marine radios are also used inland on rivers and lakes. They are not for coastal regions only.

Reading the OP, I'm wondering if the Aussies call their VHF marine "cb's". Same thing, different name.

Back in the eighties I did a lot of salmon fishing on the Great Lakes, there was a lot of boats using CB for fishing reports, channel 13 was pretty much regarded as marine channel on CB just like 19 was a truckers channel.

VHF marine radio is what you are thinking of. If you just want to listen, a radio scanner would work fine.
