Yes it will. But it's been my experience that scanners do not receive CB very well. Usually due to their antenna being designed for much higher frequencies. But even with an antenna designed for CB, I don't think any scanner will receive as well as a dedicated CB radio, even a hand-held.

For about $52.00, why not consider something like a Uniden PRO401HH CB radio?

Check out the BCD396XT wiki:
BCD396XT - The RadioReference Wiki

Frequency Coverage
25.0000 - 512.0000 MHz
758.0000 - 823.9875 MHz
849.0125 - 868.9875 MHz
894.0125 - 960.0000 MHz
1240.0000 - 1300.0000 MHz

CB is in 27MHz and is within it's range.

You'll probably need a decent external antenna to receive anything.

My BC246t has picked up some local CB, but I don't receive much, even on highways.

I had ch19 entered int my scanner and it did work on the highway. I think they were extremely close to me as I drove down the Interstate. I never tried to listen when at home.

The only things I ever heard on any of my portables I had to be in eyesight of the vehicle on the highway with the stock antenna

Af freqs this low, the stock antenna is going to be about as good as a wet noodle. Many scanner antennas don't work that well down here either, so don't be too shocked...Mike

My experience with the 396XT is that it is essentially deaf on CB frequencies. I went on a road trip and tried to pick up CH19 and couldn't get anything even with my 3ft telescoping antenna. Thought my scanner was broke, honestly, until I got home and tuned into my regular public safety frequencies. I'd be curious to see how it picks up 10 meter - probably just as bad (never tried).

I understand antenna plays a role, but you also have to understand that so many truckers are operating illegal rigs themselves and blasting out hundreds of watts sometimes. I have a $20 CB walkie-talkie with a crap antenna that can receive much better.

Even at 3 foot, the antenna is going to be very inefficient. Without any tricks such as loading coils, ect. it would need to be nearly 9 foot before it approaches any kind of efficient length.

Of course if the 396xt's sensitivity down there is poor, that too will play a role

I'm just saying when you're *on the road* with truckers blasting out who knows how many watts, you ought to hear something even with a crap antenna. The scanner is simply deaf for practical purposes.
