Looks like CBP is beginning to deploy sites in the San Antonio area.

One popped up on the air a few months ago with a control channel of 173.8625 advertising RFSS 3 Site 112. The control channel has an "OK" signal from my location, which leads me to believe that it's probably in Pearsall (SW of San Antonio). But I put it in San Antonio for the meantime until we could get more details on it.

However, just recently a burn in P25 control channel (meaning, it's transmitting some P25 stuff but mainly just to burn in the channel) has showed up on 173.1625 and it is blasting loud and clear in North San Antonio. So this is probably going to be the actual San Antonio site.

With that said, anyone know where the 173.8625 site is broadcasting from specifically (RFSS 3 Site 112)? Last time I was down that way was on the way to Carrizo Springs to get a COVID shot (the hospital had advertised they had ones about to expire and they were available for anyone who wanted one) 🤣

I have full scale on both frequencies from my office on the South Side. I'll drive south soon and see how the signals change.

I'm somewhat amused by the SysID's of the CBP and USMS (NY/NJ) ASTRO 25 systems that are just now being deployed within the last year or so. 4D5 and 4F0, those SysIDs are both roughly 10 years old as far as MSI issuing SysID's out is concerned. Wonder how long they've had the cores sitting around in storage, or perhaps the project was delayed so long that they're finally running on fairly new cores with SysID's that were assigned years ago.

Sorry, not intending to derail the thread, just found it interesting...carry on!

Just FYI RGV area 169.8625 NAC 4D0 popped up this week. Very strong in McAllen and Edinburg area.
What's the site ID and RFSS?

Have you had a chance to check 173.8625 and see if that's Pearsall, Jourdanton or another city south of San Antonio or if it is in San Antonio?

Also, 173.1625 seems to have completed it's burn in phase and is now broadcasting Site 99, RFSS 3 NAC 4D2

I should of kept my GRE500 to show me site ID, but right now I'm using TRX1 for scanning.

I just scanned this range and found the same NAC 4D2h on 172.050, says the Sys ID is 4D5h on the SDS200
.
When i plugged in the Pro96 and ran Pro96Com it says 100% decode but it's not displaying any info at all

I got 3-113 on 173.425, medium strength from Crystal City to Uvalde, but diminishing quickly after heading east from Uvalde. Assuming somewhere in Eagle Pass area
Confirmed 3-97 on 171.175 in Uvalde proper

i'm picking up 172.050 and it's showing site 3-116, I don't see it listed, i'm guessing it's either san antonio or round rock maybe?

Sites seem to be along major corridors, 35, 83, 90. I am just doing some driving triangulation with DSD while I’m traveling to and from work. 3.96 is almost certainly Cotulla on 170.700 with no SCC yet, but I’m not driving through there to confirm a tower yet

Now you got me scanning stuff :) unrelated but I got a hit on 774.28125 NAC 200 which is LCRA. it was new braunfels PD , the site isn't showing up (weak signal). If i can find the CC it belongs to i'll submit an update. meanwhile, I'll keep poking around for more 4D5 stuff.
