The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I have a cdm 1250 installed and in perfect working order. I just installed a firecom 3010 system. The radio will not transmit through the headsets. Receive is fine. Does the accessory pins on the radio require a programming change from the default setting? Thanks!!!

How 'bout a little more info? Can you give us the complete pin-outs for the Firecom and which CDM pins you connected them up to?

Some of the CDM accessory pins are programmable and some are not. Until we know which ones you are accessing, any info we might give you would be pure fantasy.

It would also be helpful, no scratch that, essential to know what the Firecom requires or provides on each pin in the way of signal, etc.

Fire Com equipment is easy to interface to Motorola equipment, all our trucks have them installed. Yes you do have to program the back accy pins on the CDM to work. You need to program a pin for external PTT and tie it to External MIC audio. Fire Com PTT defaults to low to TX, MIC HI should work right out of the box, if not you may have to check the impedance setting on their interface box, the CDM also needs to have a pin programmed for filtered audio for the headset RX.

Assuming you ordered and hooked up the Firecom MR-8X CDM interface cable which is for
the CDM accessory port you should be able to contact the Firecom tech support staff and
they should be able to tell you which pin numbers and what option to program them for.

I assume you are using Pin 3 for PTT? This pin is defaulted for transmit so the CDM should be transmitting from the headset but maybe without transmit audio?

If so, you will need to have the Accessory Configuration changed in programming. I believe there is a parameter dealing with what audio source to use when Pin 3 sees PTT.
