To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello all:

I have a CDM 1250. VHF. AAM25KKD9AA4AN. Already programmed by someone else. I wanted
to save their contents, but just add 4 channels to the current 21 installed in the same "bank"
and personality. CPS read radio fine.

I successfully added the desired channels/ frequencies, all amateur. The CPS
saved that information. The CPS uploaded to the radio in the usual manner, radio
beeped, reset as expected. No errors during program or upload. But the channels
are not in the radio. The CP file has the added channels listed.

I even changed the amateur frequencies to 12.5 narrow to see if the radio was rejecting
them for being wide. No difference. There are some wide band frequencies already
installed along with some narrow.

Any ideas?

I'm most grateful.

Thanks,

Chris

Did you add them to the zone? When you make a personality, that is creating the channel you want, but then you have to add it to a zone to actually be able to access the created channel. Also make sure it is added to a scanlist if you are planning to scan them.

Not only do you have to assign the personality to a zone, you make sure the radio is set to proper zone (if there is more than one zone) to accrss the channel.

Since you are only adding 4 to the existing 21, a single zone should suffice. Just don’t try to scan too many.

Thanks. Yes, I added the desired frequencies to the existing "conventional personality" list.

There is only 1 "personality assignment to zone"

Looking in that "per assignment 1" box, the channels I added are not shown.

I do not see how to add them.

Great! I got it. The software "grays" out the "add to end" of the assignment list. Holding mouse
over that box, the adding options come up.

Programmed, radio works!

Many thanks!
