Tonight for the first time ever I heard a CDOT Truck talking on the CSP 1-Edward Talkgroup, and it wasn't a mistake. It seems like CSP historically never, ever allowed CDOT trucks to use their dispatch channels for any reason whatsoever. AFAIK the closest they came was the Snow Mac channel; until tonight I've never heard of a CDOT truck monitoring, let alone using, a CSP talkgroup.

I know this has nothing to do with Colorado per se, but in my local area, the city street department and county public works, even though they do not officially have talkgroups on the statewide p-25 system here in Kansas, do have the ability to monitor/transmit on the system on an as-needed basis during a snow emergency, etc. I did hear the city street department a week or so ago in such a manner.

CDOT has been gradually creeping towards getting on some of the public safety talkgroups/systems as of recent it seems. I recall that sometime late last year several people heard CDOT Courtesy Patrol coming up on some of the Denver PD District talkgroups to communicate directly with them. May be interesting to see where this goes in the future.

Could also have been a patch through one of the dispatch centers, I know that Montrose has the CDOT channels as well as the CSP. A patch is just a couple of button pushes on the console and avoids a bunch of relay errors.
