PUEBLO - A Colorado Department of Transportation employee was killed on Thursday when a CDOT pickup truck backed over him in a cone-zone in Pueblo.
The accident happened on southbound Interstate 25, just south of the First Street exit.
According to 9NEWS' sister station in Colorado Springs, KOAA, emergency crews performed CPR on 31-year-old David Valdez at the scene. He was taken to Parkview Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Pueblo Police says no charges are expected to be filed against the pickup driver.
Traffic was backed up for miles on I-25 because of the accident.
Thursday's accident comes just days after CDOT dedicated a memorial to workers killed on the highways.
