CE7 question

Can the CE7 software run in Windows XP or is it a must to have true DOS (WIN98 or older)??

ce7 sounds like old enough to be dos only..
if it loads in windows is is win program.
dos will run on almost anthingthat uses "real msdos"
8088,286,386,speed is not that critical with vertex software,but tru dos is.

DOS only for VPL-1 software executable files,

I've tried both VPL-1, CE5 and CE7, just for kicks on a ME, 98 and XP machine with no luck.

Only my old 486DX with true DOS works for any of my FTL-1011 and 2011's from the original VPL-1 disk.

There is a newer windows version called VX-VPL-1 that includes both DOS and windows software but it requires a different programming cable than the older DOS cable and it only works with windows on the VX and some of the VXA series radios.


Check out RFWIZ as I remember they have both versions for sale along with a windows only program cable.

CE-7 programming issue

OK I got the CE-7 loaded, reads radio OK, but when writing to radio i keeps giving me the warning: validating, please wait. The problem is it never goes beyond that and I have to shut it down and restart every time. Any ideas??? The radio is an FTL-1011 99-CH.

The question is what is the software trying to "validate"my guess is something in firmware is mismatched to what you are trying to program..
I have run into a 99ch that was not n fact a 99 ch..
You can change the controll pannal and the radio will liik like a 99 ch but in fact is not..i am not saying this is problem,but some thing in the radios eprom is not matching what you want it to be..
Just for kicks have you tried to remove all but 4 ch and see if it works?

OK.......I am now able to read and write to it. I had to write to it first (It must have had some write protection on it). After getting to know the software I have found this is a great radio; It just takes some getting used to. I was able to set up groups, set the alpha tags, tones and program in both lowband 6 meter and some 45 and 46 MHz low band fire stuff. The radio has been modded to do 6-meters. Thanks to all who replied. I will be spending more time with the software and dialing in the scan setting and other features.
