Cecil County Trunked coming?

Good front page article in today's Cecil Whig about Cecil county Commissioners will today approve 8.4 million dollar purchase of M/A-Com radio system.
County still waiting on FCC request made in 2002 for those VHF freqs for a new trunked system.
Would this new system be an EDACS or LTR type given the freq range of around 151 MHZ?
Not familiar with M/A Com and their typical equipment.

Article goes on to say that Elkton has their own system and Perryville and Northeast piggyback off of MSP system.
County hopeful for April 2005 start but I wouldn't hold my breath.

were are you getting that from nathan? M/A Com does and will not use any Motorola equipment

time for me to be a dick...

Nathan is pretty high up in the ranks to know what county is doing what at any given time... if he says Cecil Coutny is going /\/\, then i take his word over anyone else's untill i see otherwise from a RELIABLE source (newspaper, county press release, etc)

This is the link posted to the RR homepage as news, by ericcarlson and mentioned in the original poster's post. He quoted a "newspaper article".

However, I think it would be interesting if Nathan does turn out to be correct and I actually think they'd be better off with Motorola, considering everyone surrounding them is or will be and the mandated interoperability would be much easier to accomplish.

Edit: Tyco does not have a press release about this as of right now; maybe it did fall through or isn't final yet.

M/A-COM makes and sells EDACS systems (primarily). Cecil County's FCC application request is for VHF-high splinter frequencies, not 800 MHz. The surrounding jurisdictions are Motorola 800 MHz. There is little advantage to Cecil in having a Motorola system because there are no dual-band VHF-high/800 Motorola radios (that I'm aware of). It is completely possible (and based on the news article I expect it is likely) that Cecil will go with an M/A-COM EDACS system. Cecil's pending FCC application requests the following repeater outputs (3-site simulcast):

155.6025
155.9325

Site locations are:
MD 273 east of MD 213 in Elkton
MD 273 at Half Mile Turn in Rising Sun
US Route 1 south of Conowingo Dam in Darlington

This is a pending application so it could change or be denied. 155.7525 was on the original request but was withdrawn by Cecil County.

I have to Disagree I know some people over @ Cecil Co. & they have talked about going with Motorola for sometime now. Also my sources in Harford Co state that as well.

If they do go with any other system it will be dissapointing.

I have been told that the "turn on" date for the new radio system will be November 1st. They are supposed to be doing testing over the next few months.

So hopefully y'all will be hearing stuff over the new frequencies...

Cecil County Interopability

It will be interesting to see how interopability will be achieved.

Kent Co.,Md-VHF high conventional
New Castle,DE-Motorola Digital 800 mhz
Chester, Co PA-EF Johnson Multinet
Harford Co. MD-Motorola Digital 800 mhz
Lancaster Co, PA- VHF low, high, and Open Sky 800 mhz??? not sure
MD State Police-VHF Low band ( I would imagine that they will use the M/A Com system once it is online)
I think Cecil is part of the MESIN network as well which utilizes the 800 mhz NPSPAC channels.

Any thoughts?
