Can anyone confirm that the Cedar Rapids talkgroups on SARA are indeed operating in Phase I mode? They're marked D in the database and I would like to get that confirmed before I spend money on a radio.

Thanks,

Well it shows D & DE that would imply they are Phase 1 if it was Phase 2 it should show T. I notice most Law are encrypted

SARA Linn and Johnson counties are phase 1.
Iowa county is phase 2.
Believe Black Hawk county is phase 1.
Not sure on the other counties on SARA but believe they are a mix of phase 1 and 2.

Edit Forgot to mention that most if not all of SARA is simulcast and at least in my location
the SDS series scanners are the only ones that receive it well.

I don't want to spend your money for you, but careful not to spend money on a scanner that in a couple years you are frustrated because it can't do phase II. As pointed out Iowa County is Phase II. Polk is in the process of a phase II upgrade and likely others as they upgrade mobiles and portables then back end equipment will likely move that direction. Also if you want to listen to the ISICS system most of that is PII.

Johnson County has added Phase 2 to their license. I would suspect Linn County isn't too far behind.
