Coming in from the back yard I'm carrying my S9+ Pro 97 and binoculars and the scanner starts making stupid sounds and stops on 127.8. I move the phone away and scanning restarts and I put the phone next to the scanner bam 127.8 and noises. Just an FYI for all running portables. I will have to see if the phone was doing anything but being idle (FR24 might have been running) and if other freqs are affected.

Internally, "idle" and powered on are two different things. The processor(s) etc. are active with oscillators whirring away providing CPU and memory clock/timing signals constantly.

My laser printer, in another room even in it's "sleep" state, needs a power line filter to knock down noise it feeds into the electrical wiring of the house that can be heard on the lowest HF bands.
