Socal is a little too far south for me to monitor. I can't hear aircraft much further south than the northern edge of Los Angeles Center and the R-2508 complex. I lose most aircraft after they get south of Bakersfield.

You may want to try 268.7 and 293.1 for HMM-164. I have seen these frequencies listed as air-air tacs.

Hi, thanks for your posting. Just a few minutes ago I heard Kings County Sheriff talking about "Sky King 1." That's not a normal aircraft around here and was wondering if you knew who it belonged to. I was thinking it may be SAR from Lemoore, but it sounded like they were doing law enforcement type duties. Any help would be appreciated.

Apparently there are some 144th FW F-15s training in GA and this was posted to Twitter

So far they're using 306.700 and 314.200 for air-to-air while here in Savannah.

I don't have anything listed for that callsign but I don't think it is SAR from Lemoore, as their callsign is Wrangler.

Thanks for that info, I was wondering why I hadn't heard their training flights during the past week. They seem to usually have a flight in the morning and a flight in the afternoon.

Indeed twice a day on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday around 9AM and 1:30PM, but that's not to say you won't hear them occasionally on other days. I watch them take off and land from my office window. I definitely hear them take off. They are noisy and my office is 700 yards away.

Fresno Tower simulcasts on 251.1 and 118.2, but the military aircraft TX on 251.1 back to the tower. The one frequency I noticed missing from this list right off is 40.95 MHz FM. My proximity affords me the ability to hear that. I have found the Air Guard rotor aircraft to use that frequency, versus fixed wing. If you hear "Mako" followed by a number call sign, you're hearing the aircraft talking to personnel on the ground (Shark Ops) at the field.

When I get a chance I will review this list and post what I have. Also, Central and So Cal people may be interested in this PDF. http://www.edwards.af.mil/shared/media/document/AFD-100817-032.pdf

I have 40.95 in my scanner and it is also in the database, however, I haven't heard any traffic on that frequency. yet. I think my distance from the base may have something to do with it.

I'm not sure if 40.95 is an Air NG or Army NG frequency. Airnav has it listed as "NG OPNS".

To the best of my knowledge it is Air NG. Also, while I can pick it up with a scanner and some non-tuned antenna for that frequency because of my proximity, an off center fed antenna and HF radio is flooded with signal. They usually radio when about 10-15 minutes out from the base, so I'm not sure how far I could pick them up.

I'm pulling up something on 253.075 this morning. The voices are familiar so I'm thinking it is 144th. They were doing some flying last night as well.

Sometimes I hear "Sport" (Edwards) right along CA 58 and other times I hear it father out than I think I should. Do you know if it's always ground bassed? I was thinking it might be a control aircraft but it's never listed as one.

What callsigns are you hearing on this frequency? That may help in determining who is using it.

The Air National Guard units at Fresno usually use callsigns of Dogs and Razor. On occasion I hear them use Cuervo, Hyper, and Phat. These fighters usually call the base on 298.3 when they are approximately 20 miles out.

I have 253.075 listed as VFA-86 "Winder" air-air tac. They are based out of Naval Air Station Lemoore.

Lately I have noticed the 144th Fighter Wing using 225.3 and 256.25 for air-air. 225.3 is used by "Razor" flights and 256.25 is used by "Dogs" flights. I have been hearing them at night as well, they must be doing night training.

Sport is a ground based military radar unit (MRU) based at Edwards Air Force Base. Sport controls restricted area R-2515 as well as the Barstow and Buckhorn MOA/ATCAAs. You may be hearing aircraft calling "Sport" from far away since the aircraft are at high altitudes and their signal travels further. You will know an aircraft is calling Sport when they call "Sport" and then state their callsign. For example: "Sport, (this is) Viper 11, checking in at flight level 200."

What frequency are you hearing them on? Their primary frequencies are 132.75 and 343.7.

343.7 , probably. A military channel anyway. I'm familiar with how they call as I'm a ham and listen to 2 scanners about 14 hours a day. I'm just hearing it sometimes around Cramer Jct and up on US 395 pretty close to China Lake. Maybe I am hearing bits of the pilots calling Edwards and putting it together wrong.
