Anyone able to help with ID'ing talkgroups on this system?


I have logged the following:


5 Talkgroup 5
6 Talkgroup 6
8 Talkgroup 8
9 Talkgroup 9
11 Talkgroup 11
12 Talkgroup 12
13 Talkgroup 13 - Possible Taxi
14 Talkgroup 14
17 Talkgroup 17
19 Talkgroup 19
21 Talkgroup 21
25 Talkgroup 25


While I do not speak or understand French very well. Almost sounds like 13 might be a taxi, however I could be wrong. Seems to be quite a bit of chatter on this and well...quite the language again, I don't understand alot of french, but the odd word I may.


The following radio ID's have been in use with Talkgroup 13.

The usual response, everybody reading but nobody answering. People best able to ID
these seem to be MIA on both sides of the border...

I gave a listen on a couple of other sites, not much to add except RIDs appear related
to the TG: 217xx -> TG 17, 225xx -> TG25.

I noticed that as well about the radio IDs and the talkgroups.

That is also my problem, grew up on air force bases and there was no exposure to the french language.

Married a french Canadian lady who grew up in a bilingual community and speaks perfect french and English!
No accent at all! Read and write also!

Oh well that is life I guess. I am a dinosaur now.

Talkgroup 18 off the Campbells Bay site, had some English comms. It's the only English I've heard to date on this system. Sounded like snowmobile trail grooming operations. Not sure where, likely on the Quebec side, but not sure yet. Will have to monitor some more.

Any idea what the groups or clubs are that do the trails between Ladysmith and Shawville?

Besides TG 18 which other ones are off Campbells Bay?

I see TG 13 active on Site 1 also, same RIDs.

Looks like we need a list of TGs versus site number, would give an idea which ones are localized to a specific area, versus
wider-area ones.

I don't recall off hand however 9 and 18 seem to be active quite a bit on the Campbells Bay site. Not sure of the others I'll have to watch a bit closer but there have been others.

Now hearing some Cap+ sounds on 164.595 which is probably Site 3 (Ripon) but have not been able to confirm.

That is a good catch. Listened to 164.595 and eventually it came up as a control frequency.

DMR rest channel 3+4. CC 9. French speaking comms.

TG 9. will keep on listening.

As usual TAFL gives some good info but not the whole story:

Other VHF repeater 163.845 may become digital at some point, recall hearing analog activity not too long ago.

UHF repeaters used to be active, but have not heard activity (even rest channel) in several months.
