Took a drive past #16 HQ today as I was in the neighborhood.
The following rigs were in the boneyard:
A0590 - 1990 Pierce Dash aerial
A0990 - 1990 Pierce Dash aerial
C0990 - 1990 Chevrolet Caprice (ex battalion chiefs' car)
E0187 - 1987 International rescue
E0388 - 1988 International rescue
P1385 - 1985 International engine
P2584 - 1984 International engine
T0186 - 1986 International tender
TR0696 - 1996 GMC 1-ton flatdeck w/stake body (ex Recovery Truck)
TR1700 - 2000 Ford F450 4x4 (*)
V0298 - 1998 Ford E350 van (ex chiefs)
V0798 - 1998 Ford E350 van (ex chiefs)
V0993 - 1998 Ford E350 cutaway/cube van (ex haztech)
V1395 - 1995 Ford E350 work van (ex maintenance)
(*) This was reportedly already sold to the M.D. of Rockyview for use in Station #73. Not sure why it is still in CFD's hands.
No sign of any new aerials, quints or otherwise. One yellow aerial was still in the shop side, though I couldn't see its number.
E0407 is parked beside that aerial I just mentioned, still decaled for #4 station. On the other side of the aerial is P4100 (21 Pump), probably just in for some work.
I did find two neat things:
TR2207 - last year they bought a second mobile mechanic truck to complement TR1600 (seen hiding behind this one):
and what I presume will be a V??08 ... there were only one of these, with no decals at all, but it wouldn't surprise me to see it become the FPB van. The four district chiefs all just got new Ford vans to replace their '03/'04 vans, so I doubt it's for them.
Beside that, for those keeping score at home, is V3204, the ex-conveyance of the West District Chief (he's now in V2007 if I recall), and on the other side is one of the fire investigators' Astro vans. (They're now using small cars.) Even more interesting, to the other side of the Astro van is Calgary EMS ambulance #2542. Why? Who knows? (EMS is handled by Fleet Services, with all the other City stuff; FD handles their own fleet.)
Speaking of EMS has reminded me... saw a hybrid Ford Escape in EMS livery leaving work the other day. It wasn't a PRU, it was more like a non-responder vehicle. It was definitely not running on gas when it snuck its way out of Whitehorn.
