For All The Wisconsin Marine Monitors Out There The Coast Guard Two Rivers High Site In The City Of Manitowoc Is Down. Mariners Should Contact Cg Sta Sheboygan, Sta Sturgeon Bay Or Cg Milwaukee For Assistance From Sta Two Rivers. Eta Of Repair Is Unknown Due To The Fact That They Have To Move The Location Of The Site Because It Sits On The Same Site As A Radio Station Causing Interference.

Do Sturgeon Bay and Sheboygan have any reception problems in the area which was covered by the Two Rivers/Manitowoc location? Recreational boating season is just about over, thank goodness...

Think Of It As A Big Gap In Coverage (25-30 Mile Radius) For That Area. Sheboygan And Sturgeon Bay May Or May Not Pick Up Comms In That Area, So One Has To Be Aware Of That When Boating In That Area. Make Sure You Have Your Cell Phone Handy As Well...

It's OK out to about 4 to 6 miles, but put your phone in ROAM mode so you can get into towers that are recognized as "roaming partners" by your provider network - just in case their own closest tower is out of range. If all else fails, keep the Emergency Locator Beacon handy...

kind of off topic, but i wonder if these "cell phone amps" or "repeaters" would do any good in a car ... apartment, or maybe on the water ... anyone have any experience / thoughts / ideas about them ... ??
