As some of you might already know, there is activity on Guelph's new 700MHz system. I have seen with my own eyes that the vehicles are in the process of transitioning to the new system. Instead of the VHF ¼ waves they are now using 700 ¼ waves.

It might be difficult, but we should be able to put a name to some of the channels

As far as I know, there is no patch between the VHF and 700 systems

Do you know if rest of the Wellington Co fire departments still use their Fleetnet Talkgroups or are on FleetConnect? I do hear Puslinch pop up on the Hamilton FleetConnect tower every so often but because of my location I don't hear the Guelph/Guelph West FleetNet tower so I always wondered which ones they used full time..

Wellington County Township Fire Services use FleetNet as a link from FleetConnect to Guelph Fire Dispatch. At most halls there is an interface between a FleetNet radio and a FleetConnect radio so that Guelph can contact the crews.

Ahh ok I knew that was how it was set up as but I guess then once Guelph moves to their new system there won't be a need for that link.

Well according to the province, nothing but the province is gonna be on FleetNet 2.0. I think they'll keep a console for the Townships since Guelph does the paging

Matt, if you're asking what system the Puslinch, Rockwood & Erin fire departments use for voice comms during runs (on scene, truck to truck, truck to hall etc.) it's on FleetConnect. The T/G information is all in the database. The Puslinch and Erin towers seem to carry calls for all 3 departments. I've also heard quite a few Minto & Mapleton calls on the Puslinch tower.

Last I listened to any of them, the Fleetnet T/G patches were still in place to talk to Guelph dispatch.

Sorry if I'm repeating what you already knew though!

This is correct. All Wellington townships are now setup on the FleetConnect 158 system with connectivity to the Guelph city dispatch system. This is now in place with the Guelph dispatch recently adding the FleetConnect radios to their consoles. At this time Fleetnet is still being used to facilitate patches back to Guelph dispatch but the cord will soon be cut. Paging will remain as-is for the volunteers and dual radios on the fire trucks will be reduced to just the FleetConnect radio. This was confirmed tonight as Guelph paged an incident to Minto fire. The initial dispatch was over FleetNet but all subsequent comms between the site and Guelph dispatch were heard on FleetConnect 158.
