1 ... Noticed in a update I got via E-mail that files are being changed to XML. Where does that leave people without access to any sort of XML reader? I don't think I'm the only one who's wondering about it :)

2 ... .pdf Files. Will they be readable by any version of Adobe Reader (Freeware) from Version 5 upward?

There is nothing changing to XML that wasn't already XML. If you are referring to the ability to download data, that data is sent in XML (as it has always been) and it is up to the software developer to deal with the presentation of the data.

I believe so, I don't think anything is included that is not readable by ver 5; however, since the Adobe Reader is alway free, you can download the current version (Ver. 7.0) at the Adobe site.

Both of the things you reference are available to donating members only. :)

Just a mention, Lou. If somebody is on a dialup (like me) Adobe will not allow them to switch to a newer version of the reader. 5.0 is the newest version of the free reader I've been able to get. When you go to the Adobe website, one of the questions it asks is what kind of ISP you have, and using dialup gets you a message saying that 5.0 is the newest version you can get. I've tried several times and always get the same response.

I downloaded Adobe Reader 7.0 without trouble and I'm on dial-up.

Probably because they don't want you connected for such a long time. Tell them you're on an ISDN or cable connection and you should be able to download the latest version. (Being on even a T-1 doesn't guarantee that you'll download any faster than dialup - I've had 2400 bps downloads on a 1 MHz connection. It depends on how busy the path is when you're downloading.)

It does look as if XML & the other are the coming thing, hope someone makes a program useable with Windows98SE for it....

I'm on 56K Dialup. Recently, I downloaded a new version of a freeware program... 4.8Mb. in 52 Minutes :(

Average downloads generally run between 2.7 & 3.3 KB/Sec, but have had downloads that were "racing" at under 300 bytes/second into the computer, thankfully, small program's or updates.
Phone lines in Apartment building are about 30 years old, soooo that probably doesn't help :)
