Just heard the dispatcher on 39.980 instruct an officer to "switch to channel two"

This was directed a CCS who would have been on MARCS I believe.

Anyone want to help me out here?

Huh? 39.98 is in use by what agency? Clermont County SO? If that's the case, the 'channel 2' should be on the Clermont County system, not on MARCS.

39.980 is the simulcast of the dispatcher side of the Digital trunked system. I'm poor cant afford a 96 yet. So I only get the dispatch side of the calls.

This happened after the dispatch center went to emergency traffic only. Calls on channel two.

10 minutes later they went back to normal communications.

Just trying to get a handle on all of it still.
I guess always learning.

Clermont County Sheriff's old VHF CH. 2 was 39.660, the mobile freq to
39.980.

If it is concerning MARCS the rrdb shows tg 35408 as County Police TAC 2.

Channel 2 is the Inquiry channel for Clermont County. It used to be on 39.580 before the switch to the County's 800 MHz system. Now it is maintained as a separate talkgroup (35696). Dispatch (35216) will occassionally restrict traffic for a priority detail and require any unit not connected with the priority detail to switch to "channel two" or Inquiry until the restriction is lifted.

P.S. Word on the street is that the simulcasting days are numbered and time is running out. Once that happens, you will no longer hear calls on 39.980

Yea was Bs'ing with a CCSO while I was out for my daily walk and we got on that subject. Seems the last he heard about it was that they were going out the end of this month.

Hmm time to hit ebay for a 96.
Still trying to decide between the pro-96 and the BC396t

I think its comming down to the dynamic memory.
