I'm not from Houston, but if that is what they switched to, you might not be hearing it because it is low power simplex. Meaning you need to be real close, especially in an urban environment.

Channel '8' in Dallas is the 'TAC' channel (SWAT) city-wide and also Air-1 (DPD Chopper) and several Federal / State Law Enforcement have programmed into their radios as well. TAC respons to various situations and also they advise responding unit to go to the 'alternate channel' (Channel 11) if the robbers have a bag-tracker / dye bag from the robbery....
