Newbie question here , I have searched and searched this forum for info on setting up the channel alerts on the SDS 200 but I come up with nothing that I can find. It would be for the choice of colors for police alert or fire alert etc.. for the led lamp above the push/ func knob on the sds 200.

You can only do that when you create favorite lists. Then in Sentinel you look at the far right on the line for a TG or a conventional frequency to find the light and alert settings.

Thank you for the reply, I found it and applied the color for various fire and police agency in my area. This scanner is a lot of fun and challenging to the brain, so much to learn about this one. The manual is not very helpful in pin pointing certain pieces of this puzzle. Thank you again!

It must be a nightmare for anyone who goes directly from a vintage type of scanner functionality, like a Pro-2006, to a BCDx36/SDS scanners complex technology. It's easier to go in steps to a BCT15 type of scanner with the dynamic memory assessment technology and quick keys and later move up to BCDx36/SDS level that adds favorite lists, service types and digital trunked systems.

I have 30 years experience of working with radio systems and know in detail what a scanner needs to do to to be able to monitor these systems and I admire all those people that can master these scanners without a radio tech background.

I will be honest with you cause that is something I firmly believe in, yes its a challenge and I like it maybe because my work background has been in computers hardware , networking and software with some programming so I look at this marvel as a computer. I started with a BearCat scanner back in 1968 that required adding crystals to it for each frequency then some years later I purchased a analog BearCat but my area went Phase II shortly after my purchase. Yes it would have been easier to have went in steps up to this model but I will be 70 this year and I have come to realize that time is short so I skipped the steps. Thank you on the reply its appreciated.
