Charging

Quick question that is probably really simple and stupid. I wanted to know if you plug the ac adaptor into the radio while it's still on and it's in NiMH mode, will it actually still charege while it's on or does the radio have to be off to charge?. This is for a BCD396T

It will still charge, my 330 does so the 396 should. I almost never charge inside the radio.

Yes it does charge as long as the switch is in NIMH mode. It doesn't matter if the scanner is on or off, but supposedly powering the scanner on or off while it is charging resets the charge timer.

Thanks for the Reply. Sometimes when the weather gets bad, i wanted to leave my scanner on for the weather alerts and pageouts of local fd.

Not true. Turning the scanner on or off does not reset the charge timer. The only way to do that is to remove and then reapply external DC power. This has been verified with actual tests. Why do folks perpetuate old myths?
