Transit Police are not a new agency in Charleston. I used to see them on I-526 alot when traveling from Goose Creek to Patriots Point, and then around MLK Blvd and Fielding Streets ( by the Piggly Wiggly, close to downtown ) That was about an year ago.

There is a state agency that drive dark blue crown victorias with a silver strip marked transport police. they use the palmetto 800 system, I believe they use the "x" call signs. Their primary objectives are for law enforcement of large, multi-wheeled "transport" vehicles, like 18 wheelers.

That's correct, the State Transport Police are a division of the the Department of Public Safety. They use the "x" identifier and share the same talkgroups as SCHP. They also have a few of their own Special Ops talkgroups in each district/troop. Their website is http://www.scstp.org/index.asp

HMMM When I lived in Chucktown about a year ago ( I lived there for 3 years)I never saw these white/striped Units. I saw plenty of MUSC PS, CPD Black & Whites, CoC whites, SCHP, SCTP, CCSO (Vector lb's :) ), NCPD, FBPD, PAPD, but never saw a single Transit Cop,.. and never heard any traffic from any Transit Cop on the three TRS's. So anyone got any info as to the system they use, and the TG's if any on any of the TRS?

The units are dark blue in color, with a silver stripe, and has transport police on the rear quater panel. They use different channels, the ones HP uses, depending on where they are at, and use the call signs starting with X;

Looks like the colorings of an N. Charleston PD unit. Not sure, never seen that type of unit in either, Charleston, N. Charleston, Charleston county, Dorchester County, or Berkley County..... can't help on that one.... was thinking before seeing the pics they were an Highway Patrol unit...

I looked at the picture you posted and I don't recognize that unit. When and where were these pictures taken, Was it some type of training with agencies from different states?

That pic was taken in May 04 and if you know Charleston, then you recognize that it was taken at the "Welcome Center" on Meeting Street up from the park, and down a few blocks from the Piggly Wiggly. It was sent to me, and to Police Cars website.
