I am in the Charlotte County Florida area I tried to load the radio informatiom off radio reference and I am not receiving anything in the Charlotte Co. Florida area. Is anyone else in this area having the same problem? How can I contact radio reference about this? Deb

dispatch 3 is talkgroup 3

Thanks Todd. The ID search seems to give me more activity, but it’s pretty much garbled and unreadable.
I tried downloading the system again from radio reference, and I noticed all the talk groups are empty. Maybe they’re still in the process of changing over.
I think I’ll let it play out until they’ve finished switching over. I’ll keep checking the downloads occasionally for updates.
If I can find the Dispatch 3 talkgroup that works, I’ll just lock everything else out and call it a day.

how do you do ID search? I have a Radio Shack pro 106 if anyone can help I cannot receive Charlotte Co. at all I have tried to reprogram 3 times off of radio reference before I was able to receive them. This only happened when I had to reprogram for Sarasota and Manatee Co.

the secret is that you moved the radio, continue to do so and find the sweet spot.
in this case inches matter as even a couple of inches can change it a whole bunch.
just ask my wife, because i moved her 396XT 4 inches on the windowsill and now it is up to just OK reception.

If you have good signal strength, try turning on the attenuator. If you have poor signal strength, check that the center pin is not broken off of the antenna. Also, push on the side of the antenna connector to see if the signal improves. The Pro-106 is notorious for having a broken solder connection to the antenna connector.

thank you all. I will try this I did purchase a longer antenna, and reprogrammed it like 3 times now. I live in Sarasota county and I am receiving them just fine after the radio system changed. And I noticed my cell phone signal is terrible in Port Charlotte. as well. Not sure if it's the area or what the problem might be. Once I am home my phone works good and so does my scanner. Hope I do not have to buy another scanner just because of reception issues.

Can u tell me how to do that the attenuator?

the Pro-106 is not Phase II capable.

Press the ATT button on the keypad.

All of the talkgroups on the Charlotte Co system are presently operating as Phase 1 which your scanner will receive. What programming software are you using?

Try pointing the antenna various directions. You can lay the scanner flat on a table. You can also try removing the antenna and sticking a paper clip in the center of the connector.
