Hey guys,

I was wondering about the Charlotte FD/Meck VFD and Medic EMS channels on the 800. Could anyone give me a complete map of what channels go where and whatever. I do have all the channels listed on the database. I am to far myself to do it to see whatelse I can come up with. I saw at one time, at least a couple years ago, that they had 2B-2? channels are those still in existence and if so the database doesnt show those channels. I hope that some one can help me. All I need to know is if someone can come up with more channels for Charlotte FD/Meck VFD and MEDIC EMS on the trunking system. I would like to have all that they have and in the exact order that they have them. I do not care about LEO though.

Check out the database here. The talkgroup information is pretty accurate and you shouldn't have any problem if you follow it.

I've got Medic and FD systems in .mem format if your interested in that.

>> Could anyone give me a complete map of what channels go where and whatever.

The fire radios are not all programmed the same. For instance, a handheld may have fewer systems programmed than a mobile radio. Chiefs' radios may include talkgroups not on the firemen's radios. Etc.

As the map for all the CFD talkgroups is probably only available to a limited number of people working in dispatch, radio maintenance and administration, it probably wouldn't be a wise career move to share / post that information on an open forum.

Although I know of atleast two people on this forum who have had access to that info : )

>> I saw at one time, at least a couple years ago, that they had 2B-2? channels are those still in existence and if so the database doesnt show those channels.

At one time, the RR database (and other sources) were listing three systems for ops channels ... along the lines of "Ops 1C," "Ops 2C" and "Ops 3C. The last ops talkgroup in each system was "H."

My understanding is that the 1x talkgroups were the normal switch-to talkgroups ... 2x talkgroups were for overload use ... and the 3x talkgroups were for use when the in-car repeater was employed by the battalion chief at a fire.

The programming limitations ... 8 talkgroups to a system on the handhelds, vs 16 now ? ... may have played a part in why the ops talkgroups were setup into 3 systems originally.

Nowadays, you still have as many ops talkgroups to choose from for an assignment, although they occupy only two systems in the radios (the hex configuration has changed, though).

As mentioned, there is a "map," although it's probably only pertinent to the system controller. The radios will vary according to the template they were programmed with.

( Any comments, corrections or additional info are appreciated ! )

i've seen the fleetmap a few times...

what's in the database here on RR is all you'll need, and just about all there is. truth be told there are only a few channels used on a daily basis for Meck VFDs and MEDIC.

as for CFD daily ops, the first 12 TGs listed on RR are the best. for training activites, etc, you'll find them on one of the training TGs.

the Meck 800 system has WAY more TGs than are actually ever used.

if you were to program all the TGs listed for Meck VFD, MEDIC and CFD in a trunking scanner, you'd be listening to more than i do at work, and i have a whole screen full of TGs...

happy monitoring!
