We will be in Charlotte in near future and it appears that CSX is the carrier to monitor using RadioReference chart.
I could not find a good RR map for Charlotte to see if NS is nearby or crosses CSX.
Any local suggestions for safe place to sit and watch trains and best time for most traffic would be greatly appreciated.

Using several reference source I figured out to monitor these channels

You also have a couple of shortlines..

Aberdeen Carolina & Western:

160.680, 160.560, 151.985 (The 151.985 is a repeater system with multiple sites, not sure if it is operational)

Charlotte Western (Gastonia area):

161.190, 160.245.

We will just be in Charlotte for a few days visit with daughter and son so plan to stick around immediate area. However radio has the full 97 channels so I can just switch it on if needed.
Have you been to Charlotte and can suggest good RR view areas or areas to avoid?

Charlotte is a typical liberal-run dump. I suggest railfanning outside the city.
TrainMon5 has a unique feature where you can click on viewing sites for info. Politics aside, you'll notice viewing areas tend to be dangerous at night regardless of the location. Not just Charlotte. Some daytime areas as well. I would speculate the Charlotte Amtrak station would be best viewing area in Charlotte.
