CHARLOTTE TG 26640

I found a listing for the MEDICAL EXAMINER TG 26640 in Charlotte, NC (Mecklenburg Co). Has anyone heard any traffic on this TG. I havent picked up anything yet and wondered if anyone has ever heard anything on it?

That talkgroup has been rather "dead," lately !

Seriously, I've never logged anything on that TG. I know someone who works for the ME, and has a city-issued MTS 2000 handheld. I'll be glad to check on whether the TG is in use next time we work together.

One of my co-workers works for the Medical Examiners Office. He has three talkgroups specifically for that department in his handheld ... marked ME 1, 2 and 3.

He said not to expect much activity on the talkgroups, as they normally don't have much need for radio communications. He also mentioned that the office doesn't even have a base radio ... the staff is limited to handhelds.

The one occasion you will hear the talkgroups in use is when multiple personnel are on-scene at events resulting in multiple fatalities. The commuter plane crash at the US Airways Hangar at Charlotte-Douglas was an example he gave.

Please provide an Update on this. I was wondering if anything has changed because I have yet to hear any thing on this tg.

Probably not much to be updated on.... there hasn't been any MCI in the Charlotte area for a while. This is one of those talkgroups you always keep on and program with an alert if capable. Ya never know when it will become active.

Thanks for the info. Is there any more that you would reccomend to add in the char/meck area?
