Two questions:
1. Does anyone have freqs. they can share for this weeks racing activities?
2. Is it realistic that the racing action can be picked up from the Speeedway in south Charlotte?

Thanks in advance. Pete

Undisclosed urban location.
LMS and the race teams use low power equip.
Being able to pick them up a couple of miles from the track would be hard to do.
The only thing you may be able to pick up is the usual special events channels.

For a start:

Cabarrus TRS talkgroups.
Maybe some on Meck Co talkgroups
ITAC freqs??
NCHP on 42.22, 154.68, 155.445 (vehicle repeaters)
NCHP maybe on VIPER? Hearing more SHP on Concord VIPER site.
134.650 - Concord tower for air control in area. Helo freqs 123.025, 123.050, 123.075
TV audio: 450-451
MRN(PRN) (radio broadcast) - 454.000
NASCAR Tower (race control) - 461.200

Team comms - 99.9% are 450-470. You really have to scan around or get a freq list from a scanner vendor outside the track. If you a new Uniden scanner with Close Call it will help you find active freqs

Most LMS area comms on Cabarrus TRS. As I was leaving the track I caught Events 1-5 active. Concord PD in the area around Concord Mills (Speedway Blvd and I85) use I-TAC4 a lot. Still ceck SHP Freqs listed earlier.

Oh, by the way. There is as ATF command trailer in the infield along side another command trailer of some sort (unmarked for the most part). The ATF trailer had a mast up w/ a few antennas. I didn't have time to search for comms. I'm not sure what they have going on. There were several Federal Officers floating around inside. I'll have to dig a little more tomorrow. I should be close enough to catch some things on Close Call.

Just FYI, the NAT TAC 4 will not be used much longer. Concord PD has been using that channel for the David District officers (Concord Mills mall area) due to lack of good coverage on the TRS system inside the mall. The city has put up a spiffy new tower on Weddington Rd. and once it goes online, all CPD traffic on NAT TAC 4 will cease. This will probably happen within the next month or two.

By the way, does anybody happen to know the frequencies used by Lowes Motor Speedway Security? I can't find a FCC license for Lowe's Motor Speedway or Speedway Motorsports, Inc.

This doesn't help much for this year, but I found the following unlicensed repeaters operating at LMS Sunday for the race. These were used by guest services, transportation, concessions, etc. Maybe security, I'm not sure. Most Public Safety traffic I heard was on 42.22/173.8 (NCHP) and Cabarrus Co. TRS.

451.9875 D172
452.6875 192.8
452.1375 D073
451.4125 D032
461.1375 D506
451.8875 D026
451.6375 D054
451.2875 D516

I guess these may be active again next year.

I copied traffic on talkgroups 1808 and 1840 on the Cabarrus Co. VIPER cell. NCHP Troop B?

Too much beer was consumed to get much more information.

I can not tell you this year but last year 451.9875 was used with Lowes own security staff. It is a low power repeater of traffic on 456.9875. Track Maintenance was often heard on 457.6875. The flag stand was heard on 456.6125.

On a related note, the Summer Shootout series begins on Tuesday June 13th and goes for 10 weeks every Tuesday night. It is a fun family night entertainment with small cars on the quarter mile track. Cost is only $5 for adults. Bring your scanners with earphones.
