We have an individual by that name over here on the west side of the Blue Ridge. He was wanted a few years ago. He was nabbed after a lot of effort. I don't know what his status is now. How many Elvis's could there be??? :)

Here is the news release from radio station 3WV:

A week-long manhunt ended Friday evening when police shot and wounded the suspect. 38-year-old Elvis Gene Shifflett was taken to UVA Hospital with several gunshot wounds. The hospital is not releasing any condition on Shifflett. He was shot at around 5:45 p.m. in a cul-de-sac on Brookhill Avenue in the Willow Lake subdivision. An intensive search involving helicopters and over 50 officers from several agencies began shortly before 3 p.m. Friday. Authorities say an Albemarle Police officer attempted to stop a vehicle that Shifflett was driving on 5th Street Extended. Police say Shifflett sped away, drove onto eastbound I-64, took the 20 South exit and abandoned the car south of the Route 53 intersection. Albemarle Police Lt. John Teixeira says two Charlottesville Police officers involved in the manhunt shot Shifflett several times. The investigation has been turned over to State Police, and details of the circumstances surrounding the shooting and capture of Shifflett are not being released at this time. Shifflett had eluded authorities since the morning of October 13th when police say he tried to shoot his wife as she sat in her Jeep near Court Square. Police say Shifflett stuck a gun in the driver's side window and pulled the trigger several times, but she was able to place her hand between the hammer and firing mechanism, preventing any bullet from being discharged. Officials say Shifflett also tried to contact one of his children who attends Walton Middle School, and that led a lockdown at the school this past Wednesday.
