Ok, Chattanooga switched to digital broadcasting as of 8/1/2004. They are presently broadcasting both analog and digital. I have my new digital Pro96 setup. How will I be able to distinguish between analog and digital transmissions? Will the current ID's change? Thanks. Charles

According to the site information on this database, only 1 talkgroup is digitized at present. You'll have to program it and wait for them to test it's use. Otherwise, it's a "wait and see" game with many of the agencies. Now if you like to hear what digital comms sound like, firefeeds.com has Nashville Fire on full time broadcast. But it's a pay site. The last time I checked it, the Nashville broadcast was free. However, the site make changes from time to time, allowing listeners to get a taste of the many fire feeds available.

Can a BC780 be programmed to pick up the analog transmissions?

Yes most trunkers can pick up analog TG's on a 3.6kbps Motorola system.

The way you will be able to distinguish between digital comms and analog you need to look at your Pro-96 display in your upper right hand corner. If it's digital it will show the letters Dg, for analog it will show the letters Mo. You can also tell by just listening as the digital comms will be much sharper and louder. Analog is much more softer.
