As you all may have noticed, the Hamilton County EOC talkgroups has been selected as the main talkgroup for all county dispatches. If the incident grows, a fireground channel is selected. I believe they are doing away with agencies having seperate talkgroups for dispatches and responses and are using the agency talkgroups as car to car features. An example is Red Bank Fire. They were once a self dispatching agency, with there own talkgroup. Now, it appears that they will be dispatched from the EOC talkgroup and will use the EOC talkgroup until reassigned to a fireground. All other cities throughout this region have this method of dispatching, to prevent incidents from tying up the dispatch path. This method has been proven to be the easiest way to dispatch while having multiple incidents throughout the city and county.
The city will also experience some changes. Our dispatching process is suppose to include tones after the moscad system completes its alerting cycle. The dispatch comms will be precise and systematic initially. More info will following after all units acknowledge responding. Thats all I have. Will bring more information as it is received.

Just to add a nugget or two to the good info from Suttles 1972.
The 911 Center is in the final phase of consolidating all agencies that work there under one roof. Right now all dispatching operations are being done at the back up 911 center, which you may have noticed by the sound of things. They are physically re-arranging the primary 911 center by gutting and removing old consoles and furniture while installing new consoles that are supposed to support P-25 operations in the future, along with new software and furniture. They will have three sections: a law enforcement section to handle all city-county PD dispatch, a fire and EMS section that will dispatch all emergency services and a call-taker section for the people who make first contact with a 911 caller. Before, the City of Chattanooga had it's own police-fire section, with county emergency services in the middle and the Sheriff's Office on the back side to handle county, Red Bank, Signal Mnt and Collegedale.
It will be interesting to see how dispatch will work under this new configuration.

The main, reconfigured 911 center is now up and running.
The biggest change so far is Red Bank police is now dispatched on the HCSO West group, along with Signal Mnt. police. HCSO civil process units are now using the HCSO Info channel.
And of course all county fire/rescue services except Chatt are now being dispatched off of the HC Emergency Svcs Fire Main group, no longer a hodge-podge of different groups and protocals.

Am I correct in assuming that the Hamilton County EOC talkgroups are those listed in the RR database as EMS / EMA Talkgroups?

Hum! So if I'm not listening to HCSO West, I'm not going to hear RB Sig. Mtn. Police, and all I have to monitor for ALL HC fire is the HCFD Main channel! Is this correct?
