New control channel

The control channel for the Chattanooga simulcast zone of TVRCS has moved to 855.2125 today. During some testing they rolled it back to 856.2375 for a short while, but it's been back to 855.2125. So if you're programming control channels only for a P25 trunking system make sure you have this new control channel plugged in otherwise you won't hear anything. So far, I've logged 855.2125, 856.2375 and 856.7625 as CC's.

That would be the Sharp's Ridge site. How far out from the site did you hear this and what kind of signal strength? Any talk groups? In Chattanooga radio techs have been using TG 1,2,3,4 in the clear. 256 is encrypted. Are you close enough where you might hear the Lenoir City and Madisonville sites?

Got talk group 1 with Tech testing around 4PM. My signal was very weak in the building in South Knoxville. I haven't thought to check from the parking lot but I do know I can not get it in Seymour.

Actually you can listen to these 700 Mhz frequencies with your Pro 2096. Using Win96, activate extended freqencies. I've been monitoring them on my Pro96. You will have to monitor conventionally. At least for now, it won't trunk track on these frequencies. Simply load all of the 700 Mhz frequencies for the site you want to monitor, turn off the delay for each channel, lock out the control channel(s), and it should work just fine.

Don't mean to sound dumb or something, so I I now place these in a scanlist as P25 system?

Yes you program in as P-25 once the site is fully upgraded. Until then you leave it as is.., and as for the 96/2096... you can monitor in conventional scan mode, you can not trunk track a fully 700 MHz system. Now on mixed sites, if the CC's are 800 MHZ, then your good to go and can trunktrack fine.

Did I understand correctly that on systems with 800 Mhz cc's that use 700 MHz voice channels the Pro-96 will trunk these?

Yes if the CC's are 800 mhz the 96/2096 can follow the traffic. See the AWIN, and LWIN for examples. The NOLA sites ofthe LWIN has one site that can be monitored by the scanners, as well as the one AWIN site... Its the set up using the 700 MHz CC's that can't be tracked. For those sites, you have to do it the old fashioned pre-trunking days. At least it WILL follow the digital LOL.

Currently the frequency 856.76250a is showing as "S010" instead of the original "S001". Is there any reason for this, or has my Pro-106 gone wacky? Thanks.

During implementation, there may be several changes to the ID's etc until the system is multi site wide area trunking. The LWIN and MSWIN both have recently undergone changes to CC's, and site ID's etc due to changes. Remember this system is truly a newborn still adding sites, and undergoing testing.

New talkgroup?

15012 is active today on the Chattanooga TVRCS system. Sounds like building maintenance at some government facility. Maybe these are the first users to "test" system? The audio is very good!
The Lookout and Signal sites are either not active or very low power, as it seems the system is firing from the White Oak and Collegedale sites only.

First TVRCS users?

Talkgroup 15001 is active today with traffic that sounds like a jail or detention center. It's not Hamilton County's jail since they're still on 21200 on the analog system. 15012 was heard yesterday with maintenance crews that talked about jail related issues like the "sallyport." And there was some unknown stuff on 15008.
Also, it appears the Lookout Mnt. and/or the Signal Mnt. sites are back up today.
Anybody know where this jail/detention center is? Catoosa County bought 18 new 800MHz digi capable radios recently according to a news article so could this be them?
I see a new system ID as 02A5h-0210 for the Chattanooga simulcast cell.
