Re:
Earlier this summer on 853.1875, along with 853.9875, 851.1125 and 851.0625 there was s silent carrier being transmitted on these four frequencies, and every ten seconds or so there would be a "beep" just like 'fail soft' tones that activate when a trunked system is having problems. Just recently the control channel data noise came back.
These used to be licensed to a company that provided trunked two way communications, called an SMR. Currently these channels are licensed to Nextel in the Chattanooga area, but Nextel is leaving this end of the band and going higher, when "rebanding" takes place within 12-18 months. So I am just as baffled as to what these freqs are used for. I wonder if the compnay that abandoned this system just left the transmitters wired to power and their just transmitting "unattended?" If any else has some thoughts please chime in!
