If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Cheapest way I can Keyload an XG100P with KFD tool without KFD100 since it's unobtainable?

I purchased an XG-100p and KFDtool seems great except that KFD100 usb device thing has been sold out for years (I've read). What's the easiest way and cheapest way I can load keys onto it without spending a grand on a KVl 3000?

I've read about a KFD shield but have zero idea how I would even set one up.

Any recommendations?

Thanks in advance.

Yes. I have an early version of the micro and it works the same as my original KFD100. It just uses a different KFDtool program to run it.

Or as mentioned the Harris key admin works fine after you have looked some more and if you have a factory programming cable. But the KFD stuff is much easier to deal with and you can copy, past, email keys if needed where anything legit like Harris key admin or Motorola KVL is locked down but as it should be.

Harris KeyAdmin is licensed and you would need to purchased a license key. The KeyAdmin can load keys but you need Encryption to be enabled on the radio and have the programming cable.
The KFDtool needs a keyloading adapter to connect to it. Cheapest on the market right now is this: L3 Harris Keyloading Adapter for Unity XG-100P and XL-200/185P Portable Radios | eBay
All the KFDtool software instructions are online in github GitHub - KFDtool/KFDtool: Open Source P25 KFD (Key Fill Device/Keyloader/KVL)

This is probably the cheapest Hirose to XG-100P adapter. I bought a $39 Hirose audio adapter then moved the pins around and put in a programming resistor, or maybe it was a diode, I forget. Perfect keylading adapter. Just look for a cheap audio adapter that has all the pin holes so you can move pins around and the pinout is somewhere online.

I recently serviced a XG-100P which I successfully loaded encryption keys to using an OEM cable and a Motorola KVL 3000+. No issues.

I cannot, however, get the corresponding XG-75M to accept encryption keys using the appropriate OEM cable and the KVL. Any ideas on what I am missing here? Thanks in advance.

What algos and what cable? If it's the front mic port, that cable only works on the XG100m

I have a 75M loaned out to a friend and kind of remember using Harris keyadmin and the DB9 programming cable for AES.

I thought I remember reading the XG75 radios were KeyAdmin only, but I could be thinking of the P7100's.

Look at the KFD micro. Cheap, available and they work fine on the XG-100P.

This is the answer.

IF you are not super concerned with key variable security.

It is NOT as secure as a KVL or the Harris Key Manager.

Use a disk encryption program, and encrypt the key container.

I have a KFD Mico, and it's super simple to use. It's inexpensive and just works.
