Bahaha !

I have a box with 8 - 10 of those 'stock' Uniden antennas.. I need to start sticking them onto BNC tees and go into business!

Methinks people will get a cheap laugh out of this, but has anyone thought
of what this (admittedly funny-looking) antenna might be good for?

The spacing is roughly 1/4 wavelength at 800/900MHz. Fed in phase would
give a pattern with slight gain in two directions, hardly worth it. Oh well.

If the two elements are adjusted for different bands, could this give some
semblance of dual-band operation? Admittedly there isn't a good ground
to work against.

What if one element is pointed up, the other down? Not exactly a dipole,
more like two end-fed elements stacked and fed at the centre. Don't know
what it would do, given there is no phasing control or way to adjust feed
impedence other than playing with the lengths.

I wouldn't buy one given it can be made from whips that come with
Uniden mobile scanners plus a BNC T.

Hmmm, wonder if Cebik would (or has) analyzed something like this...

Just wait until the connections get loose and the antennas start falling over on their own.
I could not believe it when I saw it, but you know there will be a sucker buy that thing.

Been there done that one, I had the stuff lyin around and tried that route with many combinations of antenna's. I used the telescopic and different combinations of those and 800mhz antenna and assorted duckies with no increase of performance at all. As for the sellar I find it hard to believe that they would put something like this out there unless they want to clear out some stock...............Hoser

Yup, add a wooden dowel for a boom and you have a Yagi.

"...what this (admittedly funny-looking) antenna might be good for?"

A dual band nose picker.

"Admittedly there isn't a good ground to work against."

It doesn't need a ground, it needs a nose.

"What if one element is pointed up, the other down?"

Then switch.

"Don't know what it would do...

You'll find out quick enough.

"I wouldn't buy one given it can be made from whips...

Fine if you're a sadist.

"Hmmm, wonder if Cebik would (or has) analyzed something like this."

I wouldn't touch that remark with a ten foot Pole or even a short Hungarian.

"Just wait until the connections get loose and the antennas start falling over on their own."

Automatic switching.

"Been there done that one..."

That's DISGUSTING!

Thanks guys, you're a lot of fun. Laugh now, this post will self destruct in ten seconds.
