I thought I would get my scanner back today but when I went to the store, it was a different story. The scanner that was shipped back did have the upgrade done but the condition was far worse than when I dropped it off on July 21. Lots of scratches on both sides of the scanner and on the display, plus a deep cut on the battery cover. To top things off, a hair was dangling the side of the scanner. Upon closer inspection, the serial number of this unit did not match the one I had dropped off. So, for those getting their upgraded Pro-96's back, check the serial number and make sure you are getting what you dropped off.

I have been instructed by the technician to mail back that scanner and they will try to find my original. At this point, I am extremely upset but don't know what to do. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.

That's definitely NOT acceptable. I hope they get YOUR scanner back to you ASAP. You'd think that the folks that are doing the upgrades would be more proffessional, and would keep tabs on the serial numbers. Makes you wonder just who got YOUR scanner, and hopefully if that's the case you get it back or better yet RS starts from scratch and you end up with a NEW scanner. If it ends up going to that, all the better but you end up waiting a longer for another scanner. Unless the newest ones are being shipped with the updates already complete.

News like this makes me hesitate to send mine out. I have been watching this board about this issue and now I'm gonna wait a while longer!

Agreed. I think you should be getting a brand new unit out of the local store stock for your trouble.

I am SO glad I decided NOT to send in my radio. It works just fine for me as none of the systems I monitor use the troublesome talkgroups in analog mode. I use it daily and just couldn't imagine parting with it for WEEKS at a time.
