• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

    Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued.     To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

    The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

    For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

    This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Cherokee AH-100 handheld CB with sideband!

Last night another batch of CB gear walked up to my door. Amongst the cool goodies as a Cherokee AH-100 handheld CB radio, the only handheld that I've ever known of to have AM and SSB. It's in good shape overall, but the battery pack will no longer hold a charge. I opened it up and see that they're some sort of odd rechargeable batteries.

I did receive the mobile power adapter and mobile antenna rig for it as well. I will test it later on. I'm definitely interested in trying to salvage the battery pack, so if anyone has any pointers, please let me know.

What’s the “radio count” at your house as of 2100 EDT?!

Don’t need to be working; just giving an approximation of complete-ness.

Good luck. I had the Cherokee AH 100 and the Titan Spitfire 454 but the batteries died and one of the radios smoked out. Sounded great when they worked and feel solid like a brick. Heard they were being produced and sold before FCC approved and got the kabosh from Charlie. I still have the radio portion of one but it does not power up. Now you should be able to get / make a LIPO pak that would out perform the old Nicads. Last one I saw on ebay had the elusive mobile power cord and accessories went for about $350.

I wish stuff like that left on my doorstep. I do get care packages from friends now and then.
Be careful what you wish for though, I just spent 5 months organizing all of Harris documentation and still have Icom, Kenwood and Motorola to go. (My Christmas present)

For me, it is 55 GE portables and 'about' 25 mobils, 1 base station. A few Kenwood and Icom radios.

I have the mobile adapter rig, that includes adapter power and SO-239 connector.

I used this radio the other night, and like its base station counterpart, my radio checks were greeted with "sounds good, but the modulation is kind of low." The Cherokee base station gets the same reviews.

I “knew” that my half-dozen or so didn’t qualify me for Honorable Mention, but associated gear + supply to run them sure takes up a LOT of space (mines quite limited).

Here are some units that have AM/SSB capabilities. They're all pretty
much the same radio just different name.

I personally have the Titan RPSY and love it. Mod was done and I enjoy 10, 11 & 12 meter bands.

I still have the top half to my cherokee. Lost the bottom half. Wish I could find one again as this cb is great as a handheld.

I see midland makes a CB radio very similar to the cherokee. Some bad reviews though.
