Someone has posted to the database that Cherokee county fire 154.400 has changed their PL tone to 71.9 however I still see 123.0 on dispatch. Would this person post on the forum with more details. Pending any reply, Larry

We had a submission that stated Cherokee Co. fire had changed their tone from 123.0 to 71.9 on the dispatch repeater. I have since reverted it back to the old tone. The submission was a little difficult to understand. Perhaps he did log an input tone? Thanks for catching this.

Thanks, Evan. During monitoring this afternoon, all I saw for Cherokee Co Fire dispatch was 123.0 Hz.

I also did a quick check of other Cherokee Counties in the U.S., and didn't find any others using 154.400 MHz. I thought maybe the information had been misdirected.

For what it's worth, Monroe County, Tn Fire (between Chattanooga and Knoxville) reportedly uses 154.400 / 71.9 R (according to Larry Van Horn / Monitoring Times). That's likely the closest source for that frequency and tone.

I'm in Cherokee County and the tone(s) haven't changed... that one frequency runs every fire department in the county (minus Gaffney City), changing the tones on that would be a massive undertaking.

Cherokee County Fire Radio System

The Cherokee County Fire Dept has 3 repeaters to cover the County .... ALL THREE USE 123.0 as the OUTPUT TONE but have different input tones. I will have to get them out of a codeplug I have programmed for that region. The Input Tones I think are 71.9 BLACKSBURG, ???? MACEDONIA, and ????? DRAYTONVILLE. One may be the 123.0 and 118.8 but I think they were lower than that!

Hope this helps!

Williamsburg County is migrating to 800 MHZ in the next 2 years. For now they have two repeaters on the 154.325 repeater out and 154.070 in PL123.0 for the Kingstree site and 123.0 out 107.2in for the Stuckey site.

Donald - Thank you for shedding some light on a question Jamie Morris posted to the N.C. Forum back in June of 2005.

Jamie thought he had heard Dare County Fire coming across the Williamsburg Fire repeater, but all we had at the time was that the repeater tones were 123.0 in AND out. We didn't have information on the Stuckey site.

For those curious, the thread can be found here:
