According to the RR database, Cherokee County Fire Tac 5 (154.370) has a CTCSS code of 141.3. However, that almost has to be incorrect because Rome Fire dispatches on 154.370 (141.3) practically next door to Cherokee.

Does anyone know the correct PL code for Tac 5?

I guess you and me will have to take a road trip up there! Since their TAC channels are simplex, we going to have to get close!

You posted at 1148 hours. Don't you work? :)

I posted it on "break"! I can usually pick up their simplex freqs on my mobile most anywhere. Another thing I'm trying to verify - if you notice, and assuming the post on RR is correct - Cherokee Fire uses 159.420 as a simplex tac channel. If you look down the page at Cherokee Fire, they use 159.420/150.790 as a repeated tac channel, all with the same PL code (141.3). I have noticed that when Cherokee Fire is on that channel (or at least I thought it was them) it sounded like the channel was repeated. So I'm wondering if they share that channel as a repeated public safety tac channel.

The 159.420 used to be the private EMS (Atlanta North - a subsidary of Atlanta South) channel that Cherokee gave them to use. After Cherokee started running their own EMS, the channel was folded into the rest of the channels.

I have never heard TAC 5 repeated. The only other fire/ems channel for cherokee that I have heard that is repeated (other than 154.220 main dispatch) is 159.420 (141.3) and they refer to that as "6" So I could only figure that "6" is the only repeated TAC channel for fire/ems.

Cherokee Fire Tac 5

Andrew:

I think you're absolutely right. And the FCC database agrees with us and RR. What I can't figure out is whether Cherokee's Tac 5 (154.370) would interfere with Rome that uses 154.370 with the exact same PL of 141.3 even though Rome uses it with a repeater so that their units actually transmit on 153.770.

Anybody know if they use the same PL code for sure? It certainly is possible

They have a 5 channel 800 frequency block, but I've never heard even a control channel out of it:

90.617 - APPLICANT IS THE CHEROKEE COUNTY FIRE EMA. RADIOS WILL BE USED TO COORDINATE PERONNEL AND ACTIVITIES.

I went through everything in Cherokee County, I noticed that the license for Canton Fire is apparently expired and no longer active - WQHH417 151.1625. Now, there is a new channel - WQDI400 156.2175 that the FCC lists as "for fireground activitites". Anyone ever hear anything on it?

Just plugged it into the 163. Will monitor for a couple of days Mike.

I will monitor it also and check it out

as far as a new radio system I don't think we will see anything on that for some time to come.
