Over the past 2 weeks or so the signal I am getting on my Pro-91 has been getting blasted by another transmission that seems to be sort of scrambled. Every now and then it comes through clearly, and you can make someone out saying "Thank you" or a unit number... But it's blasting right over the "normal" freqs that are used by Fire/PD out here... so between normal Woodstock/Canton/Cherokee transmissions, when you'd get static, you get this garbled mess, that has a 2 tone end whenever someone keys off...

It's danged annoying...

Part II: This is a general question... on the online feeds for various counties/cities... what are the "powers that be" using for static suppression between transmissions? Noise cancellation or some such? I'm curious as to how that's done.

Thanks for the indulgence and information.

JP - specifically, what frequency are you experiencing this interference on? I haven't noticed it but I generally listen to Cherokee Fire on a mobile two-way radio, which probably is not as prone to intermod as a scanner.

Are you listening to the Canton channels? Some of them are being moved to an LTR (I don't recall if it is VHF or UHF). Like Metrofire31 said, what frequency is it on? I have all the Cherokee VHF channels programmed in my BK LPH5141 and haven't heard anything besides normal traffic.

I have not noticed anything abnormal in the transmissions. what channel are you hearing it on?

as far as Canton....the are going LTR? I though they are going to an unscanable system?

Are you talking about 151.1675? Canton FD has gone to Nexedge, I believe. Static noise, FM, no PL/DPL or NAC. No in the clear comms. To make sure that there is less interference, we use PL/DPL to cut out the noise that might mingle in with the signal. I don't believe the 91 has that capability.
