Chesapeake "VDot" Talkgroup

ID 27760 is what Chesapeake VA uses to communicate with VDot Smart Traffic. I am told that by later this year, this TG will be the regional connection to VDot for all the local Hampton Roads towns so that VDot does not have to have monitor multiple TG's or radios for each individual town system.

Chesapeake, VB, & Norfolk VA Talkgroup To Smart Traffic

ID 27760 on Chesapeake's trunking system is now being used by Chesapeake, Virginia Beach, and Norfolk to communicate with VDOT's Smart Traffic desk. This talkgroup is being utilized as an interop/intersystem talkgroup. Emergency units in the cities responding to or attempting to locate accidents now communicate with Smart Traffic on this talkgroup. This is a analog talkgroup and can be monitored by any normal trunking scanner.

Our talkgroups in Suffolk run from 57xxx to 61xxx, I'll throw it in and see what pops up. Thanks for the tip.

You will only hear that talkgroup on Chesapeake's system. I don't know if Suffolk is using it yet. Norfolk and VB have it programmed into their radios. Supposedly all of the Hampton Roads cities will use this TG on Chesapeake's system at some point. Again, Norfolk and VB use it as an intersystem. When they select that channel on their radios, they are then communicating through Chesapeake's trunking system, not their own system.

Can u tell me what freq norfolk, vb VDOT is on??

there are 2, 47.300 is VDOT smart traffic center, 47.220 is the road crews/VDOT STC Channel 1 which is simplex

Also Newport news has the STC tg in thier radios
