Hi All:

A buddy of mine lives in Chester county, and he is not sure what the various police and fire etc agencies are using as far as UHF/VHF, trunked.or digital for their comms. Anyone have any general info to pass along? He is going to get back in to scanning after a long absence, any info appreciated!

The short answer is that everything Chester is VHF in the public safety arena. There is one small caveat and that is the SC Highway Patrol and other state agencies...they use the Palmetto 800 analog/digital Motorola SmartZone network. York County, to the north, uses a Motorola P25 network and it is exclusively digital. Everyone else around Chester is primarily VHF.

I just printed off the OFFICIAL List I use to Program Radios today at work. I have is VHF Fire,VHF Rescue and VHF EMS. Chester SD was on 800 but due to cost there was rumor they were going back to VHF but I do not know. the fire service uses an East and West Repeater and have a separate one for I-77 activity. They also have about 6 different 154 tacticals......
