Longwood Fire Company March 10, 2010 On Wednesday, March 10, 2010 the Longwood FIre Company was dispatched for an auto accident involving a motorycle on Rt 1 in the area of Woodchuck Way. At 7:45 AM both of Longwood's MICU's were enroute, along with Assistant Chief McCarthy in his private vehicle. Chester notified units that there was an auto accident involving a motorcyle and that the driver of the motorcycle was conscious and alert. Firefighters Deckman and Moore were also in the area and quick to happen upon the scene and offer assistance to the incoming Rescue and Engine crews.
While EMS staff assessed the patients for injuries, fire and rescue crews checked the scene for hazards and stablized the incident. Fire police closed one lane of Northbound Route 1 for the duration of the incident.
The driver of the motorycle was taken to Chester County Hospital with leg and hip pain. No other injuries were reported and the incident was cleared from the roadway at 8:58 AM.
