Speaker for the scanner is mounted on the side of the console. I am using the built in speakers on the radios cause they are forward facing. If they blow out I'll get new speakers put in cause I have a 3 yr warranty on the radios.

03msc This is my personal vehicle. The lights are for fire.
I am volunteer. I actually work in the IT / wireless networking field for my full time.

Why did I go so crazy? I have had vehicles in the past where the installations weren't nice. They had exposed wiring and such. I wanted a nice truck to commute in that I could enjoy my radios for my 60+ mile commute (roundtrip) that had a very clean install. I wanted everything to work well every day

Thanks for the compliments everyone!

I'm not the one who asked about the lights but I'm sure he'll see your answer.

That's just what I would do... 60 mi COMMUTE? I'd have everything in there if I could fit it in there!.you would be surprised how fast the commute goes by when you have the world on the other end of the Mic. I don't blame you one Bit.

Lately, I am becoming a believer in "you get what you pay for" and not for nothing it seems to be paying off.

Enjoy your install... I hope soon you all will be looking at MY LTZ when I find one.... I have been looking but not as serious as I should be so i'll keep quiet about till I get it.
Best of luck

About 30 miles each way + all the other stuff I do on the side & weekend trips ..I practically live in my vehicle!

giguchan: if you have any questions / are interested in getting what I got done with the same company let me know in a PM. I have good contacts over there.
Thank you.

Cash,(well not anymore) heheheh

I will keep you in mind! what you have done is pretty much what I want to do.. except I'll be using 2 Moto CDM'S VHF/UHF no scanner(maybe)..... and also using the havis console. 2 Antennas on the roof and that will be it. I'm a volunteer as well.. but since the influx of paid people there is not much room for us old fossils anymore..

I think the 2011 is the best choice not too old and not new..

I'll be also adding an aftermarket audio system as well. but again when I actually make some progress.

Tell me something... I forgot. Do you have the sunroof in the truck or did you find one without?

I live my personal vehicle as well- on the weekends.. during the week I have a company car. I work for a wireless carrier.
Thanks for the replies

Yes, my truck does have a sunroof. I rarely use it during daytime hours because I have the black leather heated/cooled seats. However, I sometimes open it up if it's below 55 or so and not humid at night for a cruise.
What Havis console model?

Cash,
There is a LTZ on every block with a sunroof. I figured with that Antenna farm you have topside you would want all the roof Real estate that you have coming to you... I mean for the purpose of the Antenna pattern... or was it the radiation pattern? ground plane? Gee, I forgot now.. but either way you made it work..

I can only guess that before the Antenna installer starting drilling he needed to make sure that the glass did not come back too far- or mount the Antennas too far up front. I'm a chassis punch kinda guy... when I mount antennas the entire headliner is coming down..

Here is the Havis part... it's actually made for the LTZ.. I believe the way it works there is no drilling...

giguchan,
Sorry for catching your post late. (real late)

I really appreciate the design of the console I got. Shopped around for it and I wanted something custom.
In the Havis: I don't like how the cupholders are behind the radios so if you had a big drink in the cupholder, you'd be very awkward with your radios.
I also didn't like the Havis as it wouldn't support many radios.

Hopefully soon I'll be upgrading to some XTL5000's for the console. It might be happening in the coming year. Not sure yet.

No worries,
thanks for the reply. I'm glad that everything worked out for you. I am still going the LTZ route as for me Motorola is what radios I use so That will work for me.. I might end up getting one with a sunroof. hate to loose the Roof real-estate. it might help resale as well.

Really like the console. It pretty much fixes my two reasons for not wanting one, loss of armrests and cups near the radios.
