CFD Digital

I was able to copy the CFD digital on 477.5125 from here in Joliet IL on my PRO96 with the RS 800mgz rubber antenna during the Taste of Chicago. The audio on the system and on the PRO96 was fantastic. Im about 30 miles SW of Chicago. Great reporting "Dave' on Fox news at noon about the "heatwave in 1995", your CFDs finest....Ron in Joliet :D

150 watts I saw on the FCC report for this system.

Awww thanks Ron. I also did a segment on the Weather Channel as well during a Forecast Earth segment. Quite a day I remember.

For all of those with the new digital scanners that haven't really heard digital frequency to listen to, might plug this in for a few hours. Alot of activity since this morning. All you 396 newbies, give it a whirl !!!

New portable radios being issues to ambulances as of yesterday. These have the Digital frequencies in them, but we still have the analog in them as well. The change is starting to occur.

Chicago UHF trunked system?

Are these UHF frequencies going to be part of a digital UHF trunked system? It was my understanding that chicago was going to get a UHF trunked system.

It sounds like the Fire Dept. will be using a Digital non-trunked system. The order of migration to the digital system is supposed to start with EMS, then the fire companies, followed by the Police Dept. Reasoning is the ambulances will find the problem areas first. We have yet to have the rig radios reprorammed .When we switch, I heard the first 24 hours will be monitored closely by the radio technicians. There is a little apprehension, but considering how the Taste of Chicago and Air & Water show went without a hitch, the apprehension to Digital is dwindling. I had the oppurtunity to test one of these radios a year ago, and my only complaint was the O.E.C.'s audio was very low. It sounds like that problem was corrected. I do not have any frequency information for the Fire Companies, but i've been told the Fireground frequencies will be on a repeater and recorded (69 W. Washington fire). So, under that license WPSG 985, there is 14 available frequencies left. I suspect you will see 2 of them to Main and Englewood, and the others will be used for fireground and Special Events and EMS Command. I was hearing by October 1st they want the ambulances switched over, and it appears that target date is a possibility.

weird frequency

The weird frequency 470.16250. the rest are in the 476-478 range... could this be a base channel for a digital trunked system?

I think it was a misprint. It appears to be an input frequency for 476.1625 . I just programmed all the frequncies in for this system all 35 of them...my fingers are tired!!
