• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi I have a question. I am using Chirp to program my Baofeng. The specific channel I want to program has one frequency for tx and one frequency for rx. I know how to program that into Chirp, but I am having trouble with the PL tones. We have a 2 different PL tones for the tx and rx frequencies. They are UHF channels and are already programed into our Motorola radio, but we are trying cheaper radios for our business. The radio is programed with:
TX Squelch: TPL,2Z,110.9
RX Squelch: TPL,5Z,151.4
Channel bandwidth 25

I know that 2Z and 5Z are the PL tones for Motorola radios. But what is the TPL and how do I program that into Chirp?

In Chirp there is the tone mode, tone, and tone squelch columns. What do I put there? Where do I put the PL tone for the TX channel and the PL tone for the RX channel?

Do I have to put anything in the DTCS Code, DTCS RX, or DTCS Pol columns?

I have the cross mode column set as tone-tone, is that correct? In the duplex column I have it set to split and in the offset column I have it set to the exact frequency for RX. In the mode column I have it set to FM, is that correct?

I would really appreciate someone to help me with this. It may seem very simple to some people, but I am new to the amateur field and I am trying to learn. I have some of the basic understanding, but I need a little guidance to complete my programing. Thanks!

To quote from your other post, which those frequencies are NOT amateur frequencies. Wasn't this answered in your other post [I didn't bother to read if it was answered], that is: "Programming Baofeng with CHIRP".

TX frequency: 465.55000
TX Squelch: TPL,2Z,110.9
RX frequency: 460.55000
RX Squelch: TPL,5Z,151.4
Channel bandwidth 25
