• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Trying to program my 5RV2+ and put all my frequencies in. I just downloaded it and it all looks fine, but there are no settings. My main thing to turn off is the ability to transmit. On all the videos I have seen a tab for settings which is where you turn it off. I searched around to see if they moved it, but the only other thing is properties which is not it.

I also wanted to set my screen to show name and not the frequency, but again that was on the setting tab. there is a tab where the settings was and it is called D-STAR for call signs.

Anyone have and suggestions thoughts.

Thank you..............

Are you certain that you picked UV5R as the radio type? CHIRP supports many different radios, not simply that one...

Don't rely on YouTube videos. Most of those have bad information.
Did you read the documentation on the Chirp web site?
Documentation - CHIRP
It sounds like the file you are trying to edit isn't an image from the radio. There should be nothing about D-STAR in an image from a Baofeng radio.

Yes.
Download from the radio first
Then save the image.
Then edit your frequencies and such
Reupload to the radio

If you want to turn off transmit on certain channels
(or all channels):
In the channels screen, go to the "Duplex" column
Set this option to "Off" you will not be able to transmit on that
channel

The D-Star option comes up automatically if you try to create a new file WITHOUT downloading from the radio. If you download from radio before you do edits you'll see the settings tab for your radio.

Don't forget to download the most current version, which as of today is from June 4, 2016 (TODAY).

... In the channels screen, go to the "Duplex" column
Set this option to "Off" you will not be able to transmit on that
channel

If you want to disable the transmitter on ALL channels:
1. Highlight one freq. row.
2. Press CTRL-A to highlight all rows.
3. Click PROPERTIES. A new window opens.
4. At DUPLEX, change it to OFF, then hit OK.
